Need Help Staying Focused? Try These 5 Tips

Whether you’re dealing with too many priorities, experiencing a lack of sleep, or just having a case of the “Mondays,” not being able to focus can really put a damper on your productivity. Staying on task can be difficult, but it can be particularly challenging when you are surrounded by constant distraction, especially in today’s world where distractions are literally just a click away. Here are some tips that can help you develop mental clarity, focus and concentration.

Tip #1: Get rid of distractions

It may sound obvious, but people often underestimate just how many distractions prevent them from concentrating on the task at hand. While you can’t do away with everything, you can try to reduce or get rid of as many distractions as possible. Start with simple things like turning off notifications on your phone or turning off your phone altogether at set hours. Moving to a quiet area in your office, your house, or even a quiet coffee shop to focus on work or just to enjoy peace and quiet. Putting a lock on social media is also a good idea so you don’t feel compelled to check it every 5 minutes.

Tip #2: Set a SMART goal

If your lack of focus is a result of feeling overwhelmed by a complex project, try breaking it down into smaller parts and plugging the smaller steps into the SMART formula. SMART stands for: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, timely. It basically answers the questions of what needs to be done, how will your track your progress, is it realistic, how does it fit with your bigger goal and when does it need to be completed. When you take a large, complex project and break it down into smaller tasks, you can boost your ability to concentrate and focus on specific tasks. This is mainly because you end up with goals that you feel like you can accomplish.

Tip #3 Limit Your Focus

Despite what you may think, multitasking is not more effective or efficient, especially when you’re struggling with staying focused. In fact, the American Psychological Association reports that multitasking may reduce productivity by as much as 40 percent. While multitasking may seem like a great way to get a lot done quickly, it turns out that people are rather bad at it. Juggling multiple tasks at once can dramatically cut down on productivity and makes it much harder to home in on the details that are truly important. Part of improving your mental focus is all about making the most of the resources you have available. Stop multitasking and instead give your full attention to one thing at a time.

Tip #4 Take a Short Break

If you’ve ever tried to focus on the same thing for a long period of time, you probably noticed that your focus started to break down. Traditional explanations in psychology have suggested that this is due to attentional resources being depleted, but some researchers believe that it has more to do with the brain's tendency to ignore sources of constant stimulation. Researchers have found that even taking very brief breaks by shifting your attention elsewhere can dramatically improve mental focus. So, the next time you are working on a prolonged task, be sure to give yourself an occasional mental break.

Tip #5 Take a Daily Supplement

Strong Cell daily supplements are intended to create significant improvements in focus and mental clarity. Strong Cell’s active NADH ingredient will improve your cognitive function, increase your mental clarity, alertness, concentration and memory, and give you sustained energy without caffeine. Effective and affordable, this liquid NADH, CoQ10, and Collagen supplement offers an astounding 98% absorption rate, making it vital to your daily routine.

Improving your mental focus is achievable and it will take some effort on your part by making some changes to your daily habits. That’s why it’s important to have a few simple tips, like the ones described above, on hand. Knowing how to focus on what needs to get done can help you stay on track with your most important tasks each day.
