Leigh Erin Connealy, M.D., is a prominent leader in the field of integrative medicine. She is the Medical Director of the Cancer Center for Healing and Center for New Medicine. Through her combined use of conventional, homeopathic, Eastern, and modern medicines, her clinics have become the largest integrative medical clinics in North America.

We recently sat down with Dr. Connealy and discussed the benefits of NADH to understand the science behind Strong Cell.

Benefits of NADH

NADH is found in every single cell in the body. Typically, we have adequate levels of NADH until middle adulthood.

To truly understand the benefit of NADH, we must take a deeper dive into the cellular function of our cells. ATP is the cell's energy, the currency of life; it keeps us alive. The mitochondria are the powerhouse engines or organelles of every cell that make ATP. So our mitochondria, these powerhouse engines, need to be really healthy. Nutrition, age, environmental and substance toxins, hormones, illnesses, and stress can all affect the health and functionality of the mitochondria.

One of the critical components of healthy, energized cells is NADH, the electron transporter of energy in the mitochondria. If we don't have NADH, then we're not going to produce energy; it is one of the biggest co-factors in the electron transport chain that make ATP.

NADH provides the necessary ingredient for the mitochondria to make ATP, which is your energy and power source.

Supplementing NADH

Dr. Connealy started incorporating NADH for several patients, specifically those with chronic fatigue syndrome, brain fog, inflammation, and those who wanted to get off antidepressants. Weaning off an antidepressant is very similar to coming off medication. Supplementing NADH restores the neurotransmitter of the brain, as well as dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and serotonin function.

Patients with chronic infections have significant inflammation, contributing to chronic fatigue. NADH helps give these patients energy because it restores optimal mitochondrial function and boosts the powerhouse of energy in every cell.

Every single organ in your body has a lot of mitochondria, and there is a significant amount in your brain because your brain uses a lot of energy. In fact, you use 20% more energy in your brain than anywhere else, including your heart, liver, and kidneys. Dr. Connealy looks the whole body in its entirety, but she stated we have to look at the cellular level of health because each cell has to function properly and care for itself.

Each cell has organelles that make it work; it's like a machine working for you. Cells make up organs and glands. And the mitochondria, again, is the currency of life, and it is making ATP. And so, if we don't have mitochondria in our body, our cells start to die, and our bodies do so as well.

NADH is critical. It's the train in the mitochondria that carries the necessary electrons to produce ATP. Other nutrients like coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) can be used with NADH because it is also essential to fuel the cell's energy.

People will experience declining NADH with aging and infections, causing inflammation due to an attack of the mitochondria. Significant ultraviolet light exposure also causes a decrease because it's damaging not only to your skin but also to your mitochondria. Other factors such as nutritional deficiency, exposure to toxicity, and stress contribute to lower levels of NADH, thus negatively affecting each cell's ability to make ATP, or energy.

We should mind our mitochondria every day because, let's face it, we all have exposure to toxicity, ultraviolet rays, and influences that utilize and strain our mitochondria. Our bodies are influenced by everything we do and are exposed to; how we care for ourselves is not only about our bodies as a whole but also our cellular health, which is our life-giving energy.

Strong Cell is a daily supplement that delivers NADH, CoQ10, plus collagen for cellular health and energy. It has an astounding 98% absorbency rate to positively affect every cell in your body.
